Abstract

Sustainable Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project performance is a significant concern in the project management domain. PPP has taken the lead in the global project management domain, and this concept needs maturity regarding implications. The long duration of PPP projects exposes them to many issues affecting their performance. Most importantly, the agency problem hampers sustainable PPP project performance. This study aims at investigating the moderation impact of agency problems, i.e., environmental uncertainty, on the relationship between Critical Success Factors (CSFs) for PPP and sustainable PPP project performance. Quantitative research methodology with a deductive approach has been used for the conceptual model. Cross-sectional data with a primary method for data collection is used. An adaptive questionnaire was used for data collection from respondents through the snowball sampling technique. The analysis provides empirical evidence about the significant relationship between CSFs and sustainable PPP project performance, along with the moderated impact of the EU on this relationship. Thus, this study provides the baseline to articulate a framework to achieve sustainable PPP project performance and implies building a robust mechanism to address agency problems in PPP initiatives.
